While there are many organizations like the one mentioned above and shelters in place to provide housing and other resources like those listed on the right, there are some thing we can do individually.

The First thing to do is BE AWARE- visit sites like this, do your research and learn about the problems at hand.

Second CHECK YOURSELF make sure you are not adding to the problem. Understand how your everyday actions, looks, or words could lead to some of these issues our LGBT youth face.

Third, SPREAD THE WORD. Tell family, friends, even strangers about the problems being faced. The biggest way to make a change is to make a lot of noise!

In the San Francison School districts they have anti suicide campaigns- such as LYRIC- in place that off programs that give class such as support groups for families and training for teacher on how to intervene in certain situatuion involving lgbt youth.

This is to help students feel safe and be able to effectively communicate what is going on in relation to their community, sexuality, and gender (13).
